Hi Jeffrey Rappers
1/25 thought Jeffrey was an excellent book.  We thoroughly enjoyed the story and loved the illustrations so we just talked and talked and talked about the book after we had read it.
We felt sad when Jeffrey couldn't go with his family to Aunt Astrid's farm, confused when poor Jeffrey was trying to imagine what the animals at the farm would look like and very happy when the family found a solution to their problem which then allowed Jeffrey to go to the farm with them.
Jeffrey was a member of a very loving family who looked after him well.  When he couldn't go to the farm with his family he would have felt surprised, confused, sad and unloved.
At the end of the story he would have felt very happy that he could go to the farm with his family and very proud that he belonged to a family who cared so much about all its members.
Maybe Margaret Wild wrote this story to encourage its readers to keep their family safe by being caring and thoughtful about road safety.
The messages we found in the book and its  wonderful illustrations were:
*    Click, clack front n back.
*    Keep other things that are loose in the car in the boot so if the driver stops suddenly          they don't fly around and hurt you.
*    When walking on the footpath, hold a grown-up's hand or part of their clothing and walk      on the inside away from the road.
*    Move back from the kerb when waiting for the bus.
*    Stay seated and quiet on the bus so as not to distract the driver.
*    Keep all body parts inside the vehicle you are travelling in.
*    Wear a helmet when bike riding, skate boarding and rollerblading.
*    Ride in a safe place away from the road.
*    Make sure a grown-up knows where you are.
*    Shut the gates at all times so toddlers and pets can't get out on the road and get hurt      or hurt others.
Hope to hear from you soon

Dear Rappers,
Yes, we liked the story because it had a happy ending when Jeffrey gets his seatbelt.
Jeffrey didn't get to go with his family in the car and he felt very sad.  At the end of the story Jeffrey felt really happy because he could go with his family in the car.
We think this story has been written to remind us to always wear our seatbelts when we're in the car.
The story gives us other safe messages too. They are:
*    Always wear a helmet when bike riding, skateboarding or rollerblading.
*    Be careful when crossing the road.
*    Wear shoes when bike riding.
Bye for now

Dear Rappers
The story of Jeffrey is excellent.  We felt happy because Jeffrey's problem was solved and he looked so CUTE in his special seatbelt.
We think Jeffrey felt very, very sad and lonely before his problem was solved.  At he end of the story when dad bought him his 'doggy' seatbelt we could see that Jeffrey felt sensational.  He felt like he belonged to the family again.
A story like "Jeffrey" has been written especially for children to make them aware of how important it is for EVERYONE, including our pets to, "Click, clack front n back." Hopefully they will remind their parents about this very important safety rule.
See you,
2/26 and Mrs Thomson

Hello Rapper Friends
2/27 enjoyed Jeffrey so much we read it over and over again.  We really felt sorry for the family's dog Jeffrey because he so wanted to go to the farm with them.  We all knew that dogs can travel safely in a special travel cage but most of us didn't know you could get seat belts at the pet shop or department store.
At the end of the story the illustrations showed that Jeffrey was happy to be with his family on the farm trip.  He would have been so lonely at home by himself and could have tried to get out and chase them or be destructive in the yard because he was bored.  We are now able to keep everyone happy and safe.
