lukes_way_of_looking_rap Response to Rap Point 2

This is 8EBrown from Hay War Memorial High School and this is our response
to Rap Point 2.

 a) According to our class the bird in Luke’s way of looking could represent
Luke’s feelings, life, self-confidence and maybe even freedom.

 “Even school looked more exciting…”

Now that Luke has seen paintings like his, he sees everything differently,
including his school, which is now a living, breathing, friendly bird. This
immense, colourful, extraordinary and friendly bird is interested in Luke
and makes him feel welcome at school.

 “Just when Luke felt…”

As Luke enters the painting and is free his shadow becomes a bird set free
from its cage. The shadow could be an eagle, strong and powerful, just like
Luke who can now do whatever he wants.

  b) We have chosen the image in the painting by “Clarra Bough” as a strong
and powerful image. It makes an impression because of its strange
Picasso-like face that grabs the eye. This portrait could be of Mr
Barraclough squeezing the life and creativity out of Luke. There is a lot of
angry red in this painting, but the little tiny bird is a peaceful blue.
