matthewflinders_rap Coordinator Message Rap Point 3

Dear Rappers,

Congrats on the work you've been doing on your
Flinders biographies / timelines! I've spoken to a
couple of your teachers and I know you've been
learning heaps. Great job 6S at Marayong PS!, who have
managed to get their rap message for Rap Point 2
finished and posted to the rap. If you're still doing
your school's response, keep going and send in your
Rap Point 2 message when you get a chance.

Does anyone have any answers to the questions posed by
Beauty Point PS rappers in Rap Point 1? (see the
questions at the archive of the rap at
http://www.schools.nsw.edu.au/appse/staff/F1.0/F1.8/listserv/matthewflinders/msg00023.html).
Maybe BPPS could use one or more of these questions in
this week's INTERACTIVE DISCUSSION!!

Yes - this week you can email a dead person - or even
a dead cat!
Well, kind of. We are having an interactive discussion
this week on the Flinders Rap. The curator of the
Flinders exhibition, Mr Paul Brunton, has kindly
agreed to help us out - which is great for us since
he's such a huge Flinders expert. He will take on the
roles of important characters in Flinders' life and
try to answer questions from their point of view.

You can email a question or two to George Bass, Joseph
Banks, Ann Flinders, Charles Decaen, or Trim. Each
school can only ask two questions of any one of these
characters, and you can only ask four sets of
questions altogether. Your teacher will know how to
send these emails. The instructions are at
http://www.schools.nsw.edu.au/appse/staff/F1.0/F1.8/teaching/raps/flinders/planmf.htm

But wait - there's more!
As well as emailing - and getting answers from - dead
people and cats, there is another bit of research for
you rappers to do this week...

Research and write a SHORT biographical recount of
either: George Bass, Joseph Banks, Ann Flinders
(formerly Ann Chappelle), Charles Decaen, or Trim. You
could do this in groups with each group doing a
different character. You can use the information from
the Interactive Discussion to help you. There are also
lots of online resources listed at
http://www.schools.nsw.edu.au/appse/staff/F1.0/F1.8/teaching/raps/flinders/resources.htm
I highly recommend you check out these resources. It
will save you heaps of time as they're right on the
topic for this week's rap point.

Here is Rap Point 3:
How do you think Matthew Flinders related to George
Bass, Joseph Banks, Ann Flinders (nee Chappelle),
Charles Decaen, or T!
rim? Your answer should be based
on evidence where possible.

Keep those comments from Rap Point 2 coming in as you
work on Rap Point 3, and try to email at least one or
two questions to the Interactive Discussion. It's not
every day you can go home and tell your parents that
you got email from a dead cat!

Send your responses to Rap Point 3 to:
matthewflinders_rap@list.schools.nsw.edu.au

Happy Rapping!

From,

Ms French, Rap Co-coordinator
