mockingbird_rap Rap Point 3 and Wrap up

Hello there rappers!

We know you are all working very hard these last weeks of the 2003 school
year. Your response, Kempsey High, to rap point 2 was particularly
thoughtful. Well done! Just to remind you, here are rap point 3 and the wrap
up. Thanks for participating so far, how about one last response for the
wrap?

Rap point 3

Focus question

Both the novel and the film have been widely admired. Does the film
duplicate, expand or diminish the book, in whole or in part?
Often writers feel badly done-by in the films made from their books.
Directors can leave things out of the film, change the emphasis, even alter
endings, to satisfy what they feel are the needs of the film. Stephen King
was so disappointed by Stanley Kubrick’s film of The Shining that he re-shot
the work for television.

Unusually, then, for an author, Harper Lee was full of praise for the film,
especially Gregory Peck’s portrayal of Atticus. She enjoyed the film with
unbridled pleasure, and felt the film did justice to the book. Do you agree?

Rap wrap-up

Task
After participating in the book rap, share your experience with other
rappers.
What did you learn about and enjoy doing during the rap?

Please consider sending a faerwell wrap up to your fellow rappers to wish
them well over the holiday period.

The Big Rapper.
