IDENTIFYING AND DESCRIBING
1.We have chosen the use of high camera angles in eisode1. The first time we
meet Benny he is surrounded by a wall of blocks. The camera angle is high
and he seems insignificant and small. He seems defenceless and vulnerable
and could easily be struck down. He appeared to be hiding from reality and
the outside world behind the wall of blocks.We felt pity and sadness for him
because he missed out on a normal childhood.
FILMIC ELEMENT
2.We have chosen the filmic element of soft focus as it shows us Saskia's
ability to see inside Renee's head. Saskia shows us how Renee expects her
life to be and what she has to do to achieve it. The background is blurry
and items come into focus when Saskia approaches them. Soft focus
demonstrates imagination, romance or dreaming in a film. We also see "soft
focus" demonstrated when Saskia is telling us about her mothers expectations
of her when she grows up. Her mother had hoped Saskia would be a supreme
court judge or cure cancer but later settles for Employee of the month" when
Saskia begins talking we know this in Saskias imagination because the photos
are blured around the edges.
