noahandsaskia06_rap Lee Burton response to 8E1

Hi Year 8el,

These are good examples. Can any of the other rappers describe other

instances in Noah & Saskia where high camera angles are used? In episode

2 we see Noah framed from several different angles, including high

angles, to construct his character. Any comments about these? High

camera angles are important in film and are often juxtaposed with low

angles. EG: the monster about to attack is viewed from a  low angle to

make the character and us feel threatened and the character is viewed

from a high angle, thus dimishing them and creating a sense of

helplessness.

What about in news and documentary? We can create bias in the viewer

simply by changing the camera angle. EG: Interviewing people of opposing

views. What happens when we shoot one from a low and one from a high

angle? Try changing over? Have any of you made your own TV programs or

films in schools and considered this?

What impression of Benny would have been created if the camera had been

placedlow?

Soft focus is an interesting element that has evolved over time. Unlike

camera angles which approximate human interactions, soft focus evolved

as a film code for memory, dreams and imagination. What other codes of

this kind have you noticed in Noah & Saskia so far?

Good luck and keep rapping.

Lee

with thanks
