Hi everyone,
Technique 1:
We have chosen to look at high camera angles.
The example is when we just meet Benny. We look down at Benny from above. It
makes him look small and looks as if he doesn't take interest in what Saskia
is playing, he just tolerates it. The camera makes him look insignificant,
he is trying to be like a kid again, but he talks like an adult. He has done
a lot of things that adults do so he is trying to make up for lost childhood
years so he's playing with children's toys.
Technique 2:
The filmic element that we have chosen to look at is soft focus.
The soft focus happens when Saskia is looking into her mother's mind and
sees her mother's expectations for her. We see the expectations as
photographs on the wall. The soft focus around the photographs show that the
thing depicted in the photo hasn't happened yet. It's just in Saskia's
mother's mind. You can also tell that the photographs aren't real because
they are photographs of the future. Saskia's mum had many expectations for
herself that didn't happen and now she just wants to travel around the
world. She also has expectations for Saskia's life now - she just wants her
to be 'employee of the month' at the Chicken Coop!
Talk to you all soon
