onthemove05_rap Welcome Rappers

Dear Rappers,

Welcome.

Rap activity has been quiet for this Rap. Many rappers may be exhausted after participating in the book week rap. Apologies for my delayed response due to technical problems with my mailbox address.

I am looking forward to receiving your rap tasks and posting them for students to see while this rap is live and when it is archived. No matter how many schools participate while the rap is live be encouraged to send whatever rap activities you complete, as your contributions will be seen by students on the schoollibraries website for many years after the actual live rap.

As a late introduction, let me tell you a little about myself. I am a Department of Education Officer looking after all issues to do with student rail safety and I will be your rap coordinator for this rap. My workstation is situated in the offices of RailCorp next to Central Station in Sydney and I work with and for students of all ages in years K-12.

Due to few registrations and possibly many late registrations please choose the most appealing rap tasks rather than following the tasks sequentially. The holidays are only two weeks away with many special events planned for the 150 years of rail celebrations in NSW. Hopefully you may be able to get to some of these special festivities. On the first weekend of the holidays Central Station will have a Rail Heritage Exhibition. The exhibition will also be at Olympic Park 26-30 September. The re-enactment of the first railway journey between Central (Sydney Terminal) and Parramatta Station will be on Monday, 26th September at 11:20am. Do have fun exploring scheduled events on the 150 years of rail website address listed in Rap 1.

Looking forward to hearing about all your new task related discoveries in the coming weeks.

Happy rapping,

Ingrid Weiss

('On the move' Coordinator)
