Hi, we're from Gosford High. This is our diary entry from the
viewpoint of Cassio in response to Rap Point 1.
Blessed be this day in the eyes of those who do behold the return of
the valiant Othello to the warlike shores of this humbled Cyrprus.
Such a sight to witness men cowering upon hearing the music of the
trumpets that did herald his return. Such a sweet welcome sound that
did caress my troubled heart as lightly as the virgin Mary caressed
the infant Lord.
Just as lightly as the good moor shall caress the divine maid
Desdemona, our great captain's captain. O' that such a man as I may
live to stand in the wake of such a man, nay such a Lord as Othello.
General of an army that strikes as disciplined and moves as lithe as a
serpent under the commanding arm of he that some will call pagan
without having witnessed his actions as holy as those of the Lord
himself.
The moor. Such a term I must confess to bear a foul reputation
amongst our society. Skin seen before the eyes as black as the
darkened shroud of the night. Likenings to creatures of the land our
Lord does scorn doth the term 'moor' lend to the valiant Othello. He
who in mine eyes doth bear a soul as white as the complexion of the
fair Desdemona.
That I do love Desdemona I must profess to be true. But I say it
now only to quiet the tongues of those who speak forth in doubt. For
within the dark folds of this blessed night will the brave moor truly
take Desdemona from the watchful sight of her father.
O' noble General thou soul and bearing does command the battlefield
of land and main for in your speech lies a torrent of spears, awaiting
the opportunity to spill forth and smite those who do doubt your noble
nature. Words of thou that did make head against the noble Brabantio
and win the favour of the esteemed Duke and his noble council on the
night thou did wed. This night with all my heart I vouch to protect
your esteemed and well deserved station as Commander of thine army and
their hearts.
