Today Othello arrived in Cyprus after a long intense wait between my
arrival and his own. I admire Othello, not only has he succeeded in
battle and led many troops but he has now appointed me, Cassio as his
new Lieutenant. Amazingly Othello appointed myself over his good
friend Iago. I can see that Othello cares enough for himself and his
country to appoint the best man for the Lieutenant position, whether
it Iago or myself.
Othello’s leadership qualities have not only been recognised by me but
by many people within the Court of Venice. The leadership qualities
possessed by this amazing man, has earnt great respect from the
Governor of Cyprus, Montano and also much praise. Othello can only
keep impressing me with his expertise in all areas of war. One reason
I think Othello has succeeded so many times in battle because he has
made so many great alliances. As I am now a Lieutenant I am determined
to take these qualities to enhance my own to become more like the
moor.
Othello’s courage has not only been shown to me through the success of
his many battles, but also through the way he has dealt with his many
problems. Othello has faced racial problems complicating his
relationship with his darling wife’s father Brabantio. Othello’s
dedication to his dear Desdemona and the way he wooed her has exceeded
his problems with Brabantio. Othello is a perfect role model and an
ideal general for the Venetian Army and I can only view him in a
positive way. I only pray to become more like him.
I am only thankful and honoured to be lead through this battle by this
courageous man. Othello is the only person I aim to e and place all my
faith within him.
I must prepare for more meetings with Othello. I pray to be lead to a
great victory by this man and also to contribute to a great victory.
