Othello in the view of Cassio
We have just arrived on the shores of Cyprus and areanxiously awaiting the news of our noble lord Othello.
Our ships have endured days of enchafed floods, where we have witnessed the subjugation of the Turkish fleets. The cunning and duplicity of the Ottomites in their most mighty preparation have been subverted and Cyprus is now safe again. It is with thanks to our valorous Moor, whose decree has made this so.
Still it seemed that the wind-shaked surge, with high and monstrous main drowned the guards of th'ever-fixed Pole so that the great contentation of the seas and sky parted our fellow ships, and we now fear the safety of our valiant lord. However, our faith in hisability to prevail over this hellish circumstance overcomes our fears. He has survived countless battles, and there exists in his heart a great and willful endowment to survive.
Looking over at sweet Desdemona, I can see the anxiety she feels reflected in her eyes and spoken through her agitation. How she does love Othello. Their marriage is one bound by everlasting love; she adores his sooty bosom and cares nothing for the disapproving opinions of those numerous others, for as the Senate rightfully proclaimed, Othello is far more fair than black.
It may be so that he is often depicted as a Moor or a black ram, thick lipped and ferocious, but he is truly a man of most allowed sufficiency. Othello, being a man of Christian sensibility has often illustrated a true noble stature, which has earned him utmost respect in the formal parts of the Venetian society.
My lord has proven himself to be a most self-controlled warrior, whose reputation has been received with much praise from all sides of the Senate, whom takes into high regard his political and moral worth. Othello is one whom possesses such exalted integrity and righteousness in his nature, which is rarely seen that I shall pray incessantly for his continual guidance upon his safe return.
