papunya_rap Introducing Wollondilly

Hello fellow rappers,

Our class 5/6A attend Wollondilly Public School which is located in Goulburn N.S.W.  Goulburn is about two and a half hours drive from Sydney and an hour's drive from Canberra.

The name of the local Aboriginal group is Gundungurra and their word for Wollondilly was 'wallandilli' which means 'water running over rocks'.

Our teacher's name is Mr Armstrong and our teacher-librarian is Mrs Chapman.

We've only just begun reading  Papunya School Book of Country and History last week.  It is a very interesting book so far. We particularly noticed the detailed illustrations and that the colours of the pages are earthy. We like the Aboriginal art work and notice that this will be a challenging read.

5/6A is looking forward to rapping with you in the coming weeks.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Signing off,

5/6A
