papunya_rap Rap point 3 from Artarmon 6T

Dear Rappers,

Papunya School has become stronger and stronger as the Papunya community has
grown and the Anangu people have become actively involved in its administration.
Since 1960 when the school opened, different language groups have settled in the
area and gained an education at Papunya School. The school administration is now
made up of Anangu and Tjulkura educators. They have worked together with the
whole community to create a Vision Statement in the form of a traditional
painting. The Papunya School’s Vision Statement encourages children to be taught
traditional Anangu ways and languages by Anangu teachers as well as European ways
and English by Tjulkura trained teachers. This is important for the Anangu people
because it makes school a more meaningful place and the whole community can now
participate with pride in the education of its children. This benefits all
Australians because cooperation and cultural understanding leads to improved
relationships and social harmony.
