How did these changes impact on the Anangu people?

There were many changes on the Anangu people. Things like the Tjulkurra having cattle stations, assimilation and the missionaries alll affected the Anangu people in both negative and positive ways.

Our class drew some mind maps and discussed areas of change. The positive outcomes were that the Anangu people got protection from the missionaries, they were introduced to religion and schooling, they were given food rations (even though the food tasted different and they did noot know what a tin can was) when their own bush tucker became scarce. They were made to wear clothes and sleep in beds, which was also a different way of lfe. Some of them worked as cowboys on the cattle stations.

The negative outcomes were having their culture and way of spiritual dreamtime religion being ignored, they faced new diseases which killed many of them and they were forced to move from their land to let the Tjulkurra run their cattle stations. There was a communication problem as well, the Tjulkurra did not realise that Aboriginal tribes spoke in their own languiages. When the missionaries tried to get the Anangu people to spread the word of God, it was not easy for them to communicate to the other aboriginal communities.
