A) In what ways has Papunya School become stronger & stronger, and why is it important for them?
In 1960 Papunya School started for Anangu children. This was a great opportunity for them. At first Papunya school students only were allowed to speak the foreign language (English) and not the home language taught to them at birth. The school soon became stronger at teaching the children about their history through dance, songs, culture and artwork.
B) How does this benefit all Australians?
This benefits all Australians in that it teaches every Australian about the history of the land and people so we can respect the land and animals the same way that the Anangu do. Australians are now able to understand the Anangu ways of life. Also we are able to work together so we can live in peace.
