papunya_rap Rap point 3 response

In what ways has Papunya School become stronger and stronger and why is this important to them?

- They have their own curriculum with country as the centre.
- A special part of the curriculum is learning about the history of the country.
- Each year the school has visits to different parts of the country.
- The elders tell the stories for that part of the country. The students learn the stories and dances for that area.
- They learn where the waterholes are and how to survive in the bush.
- The students learn two ways. The Anangu way and the western way.
- Most of the learning hasn’t been written down before and that’s why they made the book.
- In the 1970’s, the school occasionally made bush trips to Ulumparru, 20km South of Papunya.
- During the 1980’s,Art Galleries all over the world began to buy and exhibit Papunya paintings.
