possum04_rap Co-ordinator's message and Rap Point 3

Hello there clever little Possum Magic Rappers,

Congratulations on the great job you did answering Rap Point 2! Grandma Poss and Hush would have been kept very busy travelling around the various parts of Australia, visiting your local school communities. What memorable experiences they would have had, tasting the delicious range of foods you suggested and seeing the main tourist attractions. I’m sure they would have grown rather plump by now and would be totally exhausted after all their fun adventures! Imagine how thick the book Possum Magic would be if we were able to add all your ideas! Illustrator Julie Vivas would be kept busy for a long, long time, but I’m sure she would have a fun time illustrating your wonderful thoughts!

There were so many different, creative and entertaining responses! I’m sure you all had a most enjoyable time reading other schools’ ideas. Some rappers matched the foods and Hush’s body parts with the initial letter of their suburb, whilst others provided Grandpa Poss and Hush with the local food speciality. Many of you voted for the class’ most popular food.

If you haven’t yet posted your Rap Point 2 response, it’s not too late. Please still send it to the rap – we’d love to read your version of the story. The address to post your reply to is listed at the bottom of this message.

EXCITING NEWS!! Illustrator Julie Vivas will be raping with us this week!! As well as sharing in your Rap Point 3 responses Julie will be available to answer any questions you may have about Possum Magic, her other titles or her work as an illustrator.

As the number of schools taking part in this book rap is so large (over 70!), please limit the number of questions from your class / group to 2. You may wish to brainstorm questions then vote to determine the most popular 2 questions. Please try to keep track of other school’s questions so you don’t repeat the same questions.

Please send your questions to the rap, using the same student rap address. In the subject box type: Questions for Julie Vivas from Class…    ……School.

TRAVELLING POSSUMS!! A big THANK YOU to Barbara Braxton (Teacher Librarian Palmerston District Primary School A.C.T.) for co-ordinating the journey of toy Hush and Grandma Poss around 29 of our rapping schools. Make sure you all check out the website - it's fantastic! Go to:

Even if your school is not receiving a visit from these two adorable characters, you can still follow their travels by clicking onto the site.

Now for this week’s Rap Point 3!

I look forward to reading your opinions about your favourite pages. Will we all agree on the same page or will we all have different favourite pages? The decision will be very difficult! I wonder what beautiful presents you'd like to give Mem and or Julie???
