Hello Possums!
We have enjoyed participating in this book rap because we had many
opportunities to brainstorm ideas about the Rap Points. We did this in
small groups and as a whole class.
We liked meeting so many other schools through the Internet. It was a
different way of discussing things with other students across Australia.
It was fun reading all of the Rap Responses. We were able to read many more
poems and stories than just our own.
One of the skills we developed was seeing how picture books can tell
several stories at one time. Sometimes the pictures match the written text
but sometimes they tell us different parts of the story.
When we compared the 21st anniversary edition of "Possum Magic" with the
old version, it was interesting to see how much was changed. Even the
layout of the text was different. Mr McLean noticed that it made the book
easier to read aloud.
The book rap has helped us develop our skills in using technology. Nine
students wrote their first email during this book rap. Seven other students
said that they learned more about writing and sending emails because of
this book rap.
Nine of us said that they had improved their knowledge of the Internet. Six
students had their first ever turn on the Internet.
Thank you for rapping with us. We will check back for your last messages.
Farewell Possums!
