Hello rappers,
What a wonderful time we’ve had reading about Grandma Poss’ magical powers and the fun things that Hush could do when she was invisible! I know that both Mem Fox and Julie Vivas would be very impressed to read all of your fantastic ideas. Imagine how big the book of Possum Magic would be if we were able to include all of your ideas in it!
This week we will be extending Grandma Poss’ and Hush’s tour of Australia to include a visit to your town. How exciting! Why would they like to visit your town? What special food would they eat and how would Grandma Pos and Hush react? Where will they go next after visiting your town?
I know you will be really busy thinking of your responses to Rap Point 2 and I can’t wait to read them. So here we go!
Rap Point 2
Term 2, Week 4: week beginning 14 May 2007
It was there in the far north of Australia,
that they found a vegemite sandwich.
Grandma Poss crossed her claws and crossed her feet.
Hush breathed deeply and began to eat.
“A tail! A tail!” shouted both possums at once.
For there it was. A brand new, visible tail.
a) Write your own version of what would happen if Grandma Poss and Hush visited your town. Tell us about your town’s location, a popular food, and how Grandma Poss and Hush would react when Hush tasted your food. What part of Hush’s body, if any, might reappear?
b) What would Grandma Poss and Hush do next? Give us your ideas about where they would go and what might happen.
