Hi Rappers, we thought Binna Binna Man reflects Aboriginal lore and culture in  the Australian context. The book has a strong message for Aboriginal people to keep hold of their Aboriginal identity through their beliefs, heritage, blood ties and their connection to their land.  Each generation needs to know the traditional beliefs ,stories, dances and the generations need to look to oneanother to share and protect oneanother. The white culture can be destructive eg the alcohol abuse and Binna Binna Man gives the warnings about what can happen if Aboriginal people forget

their beliefs.

The important messages are on page 73 and  page 86. The Binna Binna Man says, "Be who you are". The elders advise on page 86,  "Remember your country where you are from, you've got to know the ways of the place and the people and your place or you get weak and die".   "You have been given old people and ancesters who have been looking out for you." ' Don't forget where you come from. Listen to the old people with your eyes and your ears. But with this one here too. With your heart".

In Binna Binna Man, the Aboriginal beliefs bring the characters through  and give them strength courage, faith hope love to go on living and face the future.
