We are Group 2 of the Macrappers. After a lot of discussion and thought this is our response to rap point 1.
The ship appears illuminated which makes it a focus for the eye. The clouds look stormy along with the shadows and darkness in the background, which causes the ship and the invaders to seem threatening. The uniforms on the rabbits are very formal and use dominant colours to show military importance and sophistication.
It’s very difficult to place the ship into any period of history because of all the different styles used. At first glance it appears to be from the Viking time, but when you look closer you see wings, gears, pipes, sails and windows. Because of this there is a suggestion of this happening at any time throughout history. It could even be on the cover of a fantasy book. The rabbits look very important and there is a sharpness to their uniform indicating power and prestige. From a distance there are two kangaroos observing the rabbits coming at them.
The ship is very overpowering, taking up a large proportion of the cover giving the effect of power and dominance. The rabbits are positioned to look high and mighty by the sharpness of the drawings.
There are many symbols on the cover of The Rabbits, like clocks showing the importance of time, flags showing ownership and the stamp/emblem making it look official. When we saw the title we thought of lots of negative sayings and characteristics of a rabbit. The font gives an impression of being old fashioned.
