therabbits04_rap Rap Point 2 Macrappers group 3

Hi we are the Macrappers and we are group 3,

We have chosen to do the Double Page of “They stole our Children”.

We have picked up on a variety of colours and some of these colours are blue and black, yellow and red, white and brown. The blue in the picture represents sorrow and the loss of the natives children because of the words “and stole our children” we understand they didn’t give up their children willingly. The white represents that the natives are innocent and are no threat to the rabbits, so therefore do them no harm. The black in the picture represents the evil, suspicion and power the rabbits hold. The red clarifies danger and intensity; it can represent how masculine the rabbits are. The yellow means there is no good to come, they are planning something sinister and may mean fear, pain and loss of hope.

The symbols in the book of “The Rabbits” that we have chosen are the crest on the document of the rabbits. Our theory of the crest is that it looks like the rabbits think that they have total power this can be seen by the crown above the crest and in the oval shape there is a picture of a rabbit looking very important. Under the oval shape there is a gun, which represents destruction of the land and technology that the rabbits hold. The documents look very official through to their identification of the signature and the fingerprint and the fact that the writing is a contradiction because rabbits cannot write.

There is also another symbol which happens to be the eye of the rabbit on the end of the feather quill pen, the eye gives us a feeling of uneasiness because the eye is in line with the real rabbits eye and it makes us feel this fake eye is watching when the real rabbits eye cannot see. On the end of the feather quill pen down on the arrow there seems to be drips of red substance supposedly ink or blood.

There are a number of images in this double page, for a start the main focus we seem to look at what the rabbits are doing and then we notice the text which clarifies that  the rabbits had stolen the natives children and then we see the children being lifted in to the air and being propelled away by the gusts of the flying boats. This makes us fully understand they didn’t give their children freely without a fight.

The text in the page is very bold and stands out very clearly from the rest the page, and its very eye drawing because it tends to be the first thing you look at to try and understand what is happening to the children and the text also tells us the rabbits are responsible. The affect of the text being in red is like it was set in blood so it is official.

The positioning of the rabbits makes it seem that the natives are not in control and they cannot help what is happening and so because of the size of the rabbits and it makes us feel that the natives are overpowered and the rabbits want the natives to feel they have been defeated and that is why the rabbits have taken away. The rabbits and the boats are lined up perfectly because they love order and control, there is a comparison between the rabbits and boats because they have gone from large to small so this means the children are way off in the distance and so the children cannot return because the boats and the feather quill pens are watching.
