The mid shot used to show the Maori dancers and singers represents unity
within the tribe. As the boat is being launched and it moves off into the
sunshine, the techniques of lighting and the long shot create a positive
feeling. The boat symbolises the tribal unity because they came together to
fiinish the boat, giving a hope for the future for the tribe.
The bright sunshine used for lighting gives the effect that all problems
have been cleared up. The lighting links in with the sound- Paikea singing
and her voice over- giving closure to the problems and the movie.
