whalerider05_rap rap point 2

Hi my name is Mary. I am a year 10 student at Parramatta high school. I enjoy reading, singing and listening to music. I will be telling you the moments and shots that had great impact on me in scene 16 in the movie ‘Whalerider’.

There are a lot of moments and shots that had an impact on me. There was a close up of Hemi. There was an expression of pride and joy on his face. This was because hemi’s father had left his ‘friends’ that were bad influences on him and joined his community in the haka. The themes in these shots are change and finding a new direction through cultural identity.

Also the shot of the three women of Koro’s showing his wife and his two daughter-in-laws had an impact on me. One of the two is pregnant. She is Pai’s father’s girlfriend. She is German and is accepted in the family as if she was one of there own. The theme in this shot is one of acceptance. Another shot is the close up of Pai and her grandfather on the ship. It shows how Koro finally accepts her as the leader and leads then in the right direction of life. The themes in these shots are acceptance, finding direction, broken bonds being mended, self discovery and the things that were not working, finally work out.
