Millicent wanted to help Dusting because, as Bronte believes, Millicent thought that Dusting was poor. Elliott thinks that Millicent was being charitable. Laura thinks Dusting is not poor because Dusting's family were happy and contented without money.
All of 5/6R agree that Dusting was offemded by Millicent trying to help him because he didn't feel poor.
5/6R believe that having money and many possessions doesn't necessarily mean you are rich.
Izzy, Josh and Storm believe Dusting felt rich because his wealth came from happiness with his family and friends - there are more important things in life than money.
Earlier, 5/6R had a discussion on whether having lots of money and possessions means you are rich. As a group we decided that there are pros and cons for this.
For example, the argument for money doesn't always make you happy, we thought of these points-:
- other parts of our life can be fulfilling. such as
# 1 family and friends
# 2 good health
# 3 freedom of choice
# 4 freedom of speech
# 5 right to vote
The argument for money does make you happy, we thought of these points-:
- money does give you more choice
- can facilitate better quality of goods and services
