Secondary Student Exchange Program in NSW

The secondary student exchange program in NSW is a state specific reciprocal program whereby students from another country are enrolled as full-time students in a NSW secondary school for a period ranging from three months (or one full school term) to one year.

Under similar program conditions students from NSW are able to enrol full-time, in a recognised course of study in an overseas country.

  • Students involved in official secondary student exchange programs enter the country on a Student Exchange Visa with full-time studies as the major focus.

 Secondary Student Exchange Programs

  • Official exchange students do not pay school fees nor do they pay for arranged home-stay accommodation.

  • Student visits (including short-term cultural exchange programs) of less than three months are not considered part of this exchange arrangement.

  • Short stay visits of less than three months require only a normal visitor visa and students are subject to payment of relevant tuition fees if enrolled in a NSW government school.
