A number of scholarships, grants and allowances are available to assist students with their education.
- Schoolkids Bonus
The Schoolkids Bonus replaces the Education Tax Refund.
From 1 January 2013, families receiving Family Tax Benefit Part A will receive:
- $410 for each child in primary school
- $480 for each child in secondary school.
The Schoolkids Bonus will be automatically paid to eligible families in two separate instalments each year.
You no longer have to worry about keeping receipts or making claims when you do your tax in 2013.
The New South Wales Government provides funding to government schools to assist families in the payment of school related expenses. SAS funds can be used for excursions and camps, sport, subject contributions, textbooks and stationery needs, clothing/uniforms and footwear, but not general school contributions.
Parents/carers need to make application to the school principal for consideration. Applications are assessed on a case by case basis and are treated with empathy and confidentiality.
