Hepatitis

Hepatitis is a virus that affects the liver. Common types of hepatitis include hepatitis A, hepatitis B and hepatitis C. People with hepatitis often do not know that they have it.

Hepatitis A

Students who have hepatitis A should be kept at home from school for two weeks after first symptoms occur or one week after the onset of jaundice.

General

There is no legal or moral obligation on parents (or students) to inform the school of their child's 'hepatitis status'.

Universal precautions for infection control are adopted in all work places including schools.
