2007 NSW State SRC Conference: Get Connected-Take Action!

The State SRC Conference turned 20 in 2007!

Students participated in workshops and had opportunities to hear inspiring keynote speakers.

At the conference, participants debated recommendations forwarded from school and inter-school SRCs.

The conference:

  • focused on ways for students to be more involved in school and community life
  • explored options to enhance school/community links
  • provided students with opportunities to enhance their personal leadership skills.

Regional student representatives who attended the state conference were elected by their peers at inter-school SRC meetings.

There were 130 students, 14 supervising staff and approximately 50 Departmental staff and interagency visitors from across NSW in attendance.

2005 NSW State SRC Conference: School Harmony - Communities Working Together

The conference was held on 2nd to 5th August 2005.  There were 126 students, 14 supervising staff and approximately 50 Departmental staff and interagency visitors from across NSW in attendance.

The conference:

  • focused on ways for schools to create harmonious environments
  • explored options to enhance community links and
  • gave student leaders opportunities to enhance their personal leadership skills.

Bob Carr, former Premier of NSW chose to open the conference on his last day in office. He shared 'lessons in leadership' learned from a decade as Premier with the students.

Keynote speaker Taryn Woods spoke about the importance of teamwork in building harmonious relationships.
