PLAY began in 2002 in the Orange area. All schools were invited to work on the aims of the PLAY program:
- increase leadership and participation activities for Aboriginal students
- increase co-operation and understanding between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal students and the wider community
- develop a positive attitude to education by improving self esteem, employment opportunities and helping to create a positive future
- improve the attendance and retention rates of Aboriginal students.
The schools supported an exciting Reconciliation Day involving over 700 students.
- Dancing was showcased.
- The musical skills of students were on display.
- Students had an opportunity to think about Australia's history and our future as a multicultural society.
